Announcement Etiquette

This is a common question, when do I send out my invitations or announcement?  Each occasion has a different time frame.  Here are the most common scenarios.    

Thank You Cards:  No matter if the occasion is a baby shower or a bridal shower; it is best to send a thank you card within 10 days of the event.

 Party Invitations:  Except for weddings (see below) it is best to have the party invitation out a minimum of three weeks prior.

 Announcements:  It always seems like there is something to announce be it a birth of a child or a graduation.  It best to send the announcement out within 6 months of the big occasion.

 Wedding Save-the-Dates:  Save-the-dates are a growing trend, but are not necessary.  However, if you plan on sending out save-the-dates make sure to do so by 6 months of the planned wedding date.

 Wedding Invitations:  It is best that guests have 4-6weeks to RSVP for a wedding.    Therefore, it is best to have the wedding invitations in the mail 8 weeks prior to the wedding date.
