This time we got to be a guest blogger for Double the Fun Parties.

This event was something that helped bring back some childhood memories.  When I was a child my mom and dad would let me invite one or two friends to stay over on Friday nights.  We would go to the grocery store stock up on candy, popcorn and a movie.  This party is to reflect that type of girl’s night in.

There are two apothecary jars, one is filled with popcorn and the other is filled with gum balls.  I used cute flower shaped cupcake holders from Michaels to serve the popcorn into.

Some of the snacks included pretzels, fruit, jelly beans and chocolate chip cookies.  Then to top off all the snacks, I made marshmallows on a stick decorated in pink and yellow rounds to tie the theme together.

Pink lemonade can be poured into the colorful cups.  In order to know which drink is yours I took clothes pins and covered them with colorful washi tape and provided a pink marker to write your name on the tape.  The clothes pin then can be clipped to the paper straw labeling your drink.

The table is dressed with a sunflower colored pintuck table cloth from Signature Party Rentals.  To enhance the table I added a coordinating flag banner.  The table with then sprinkled with tissue paper confetti by the Cloud Parade.

Paper lunch bags were filled with goodies and closed with the glitter clothes pin and topped with a package of the tissue paper confetti.

Simply 10 Ten DIY Wedding Ideas Simply Radiant Events

With the invention of Pinterest and the Internet DIY is everywhere!  I have seen so many brides interested in  saving money and want that extra special homemade touch to their wedding.  I am all for saving money and doing things yourself.  However, please just note that is very easy to come up with a bunch of ideas and projects for your wedding and run out of time.  Just be mindful of what you choose to make for your wedding that you will have enough time to complete the project.  If you start running out of time make sure to ask your wedding planner to lend a helping hand to alleviate some of the stress.

Some of these ideas don’t even need to necessary be for weddings, some can be used for other events as well.

Here are  the Simply Top 10 DIY wedding Ideas that I personally have seen in the weddings that I helped plan and coordinate.

1. DIY Wedding Programs

This bride used some craft paper and printed everything on her computer then sewed them up with her sewing machine.  Very simple and very cute.

2. DIY Wedding Favors

This bride took wine glasses then painted the base with chalkboard paint. Inside the classes were come custom matches and a piece of chalk to write your name on your wine glass.

3. DIY Thank you Cards

This couple took this picture on their wedding day then inserted the photo into cards…BAM instant thank you cards!

4. DIY Guest Book

This couple used their engagement photos and turned it into a photo book.  They left every other page blank so their guests could sign their marriage wishes for the couple.

5. DIY Light Up Initials

Theses letters were bought at a local craft store.  Then they drilled wholes into the letters and placed in some lights.  Very fun way to add some light and décor for an outdoor reception.

6.  DIY Chalkboard Signs

This bride is a teacher so she incorporated chalkboard signs all throughout their wedding.

7. DIY  Escort Cards

This couple loved their dog and had little touches of their Golden Retriever throughout their reception.  Even their escort cards were dog bones they printed out at home and tacked on a tack board.

8.  DIY Photo Booth

This couple purchased some props, a backdrop and some disposable cameras.  Guests were able to use the cameras at the photo booth and throughout the reception to take photos.  Any leftover cameras they took with them on their honeymoon.

9.  Front Entrance Décor

Initials, some greenery and some floral wire can go a long way.  Check out this adorable sign!

Simply Top 10 Ways to Use Rose Petals

The rose is one of my favorite flowers. I believe roses are popular because they come in so many colors, are durable and typically available all year round.

1. Scatter the petals around the base of a centerpiece or around the cake. Sometimes I spread the petals thinly or lay out each petal down into the perfect position. Other times I just want an opulent, overflowing look and will scatter them in larger groups.

2. One easy way to use rose petals it to fill a cylinder vase with petals; add water, and the place a floating candle on top. You will need the petals from two roses to fill and 8-inch tall vase.

3. You’ve probably seen rose petals scattered down the aisle with a flower girl. A fun twist would be to make a pattern down the center of the aisle. When guest arrive just seat them from the side aisles instead.

4. To make a rose bowl, fill a short or shallow vase with water then float an open rose in the center. Add petals around it until you have filled all the space to make it look like a giant rose.

5. Float a couple of rose buds in a large cylinder vase filled with water.

6. Make garlands that can be incorporated into your centerpieces, hang them on the backs of chairs or from candelabras with scattered floral cocktails and petals round the base.

7. To create the classic pomander, glue petals on a Styrofoam ball, using colors that coordinate with your event design.

8. You can also make a composite bouquet. Use one open rose in the center, then glue petals around it to give it the look of one giant rose.

9. Use rose petals to garnish a drink. Note: It’s important to remember that there are no regulations on pesticides with flowers so I strongly recommend using only organic flowers for drinks

10. Event outdoors? Try adding rose petals one by one to the inside of an umbrella.

Purple Bridal Shower

Check out this fabulous bridal shower from this past June.

It was just a simple backyard event.  The wedding is to take place at a winery so it was a perfect fit to do a wine theme shower.

The tables were set with purple linens and a white overlay and set with fine china.

The table centerpieces were put together with some purple flower inside silver painted wine bottles and surrounded with wrapped tea lights in the wedding colors (grey and purple).

A woman’s wedding day is considered one of the most important milestones in her life. As much as the celebration is about the union of two lives becoming one, this day is all about the bride. And her fashion is almost always the headline of this big day. It’s probably the most anticipated element in every wedding. Whether they admit it or not, even male guests check out what the bride is wearing.

This is why the wedding dress is a crucial decision that every bride stresses about. It has to have the best fit, the right kind of cut, and the perfect shade. The first two elements can be quite challenging, especially if the wearer has no idea about what flatters her body the most.

This article focuses on choosing the best cut and design for the most common body types. Interested? Keep reading.

1.  The Pear Shape – Ladies who are bottom-heavy must look for dresses that slowly flare out, forming an A from the waist down to the floor. This highlights the midsection of the torso and takes away the focus from the hips and thighs. Experts recommend the use of sturdy fabrics like duchesse satin as well as taffeta, because they don’t hug the body. To accentuate the slender upper body, brides must consider a thin-strapped bodice and a V-neckline.

2.  The Apple Shape – For ladies who are top-heavy, a dress that cinches in the narrowest area of the waist is best. The dress, ideally, must flare out into an A-shape. A bodice with plenty of texture like lace or other embellishments will give just the right fit and a corset-like appearance. A deep V-neckline is also great for the apple-shaped lady. Try to avoid trumpet-style dresses since these only emphasize the widest part of the body.

3.  The Busty – They say that when you have it, flaunt it!  For the busty gal’s wedding day, a classy take can be done by opting for a scooped neckline. This brightens up the face and shows off the décolletage without giving too much away. If you’re interested in a strapless dress, choose one with just a slight dip in the neckline, such as a sweetheart, instead of a style that goes straight across the chest. Emphasize the focal areas by using fabric with a slight sheen.

4.  The Plus-Size – Women who are curvaceous look best in dresses with an empire cut. The flow of the dress with this cut begins under the bust into a floor length A-line. When choosing the design, make sure the empire seam doesn’t begin on the bust and isn’t pleated. This design can play up the shape, so make sure it fits perfectly. Opt for fabrics that provide structure instead of those that cling. And for a more romantic look, simply add an embellished tulle overlay.

5.  The Petite – Sheer trumpet-shaped dresses flowing into an A-line are ideal. Consider designs where the cut goes just above your natural waistline to give the illusion of longer legs. The fabric and ornamentation can pretty much be anything the bride desires as long as the size is controlled. Petite women should avoid anything oversized. They should also steer clear of dresses that have dropped waists or calf-length hems since these make can make them look even shorter.

Don’t be shy or scared to look in the mirror and assess your body type before shopping for your wedding wardrobe. It’s also the time to be bold in trying on dresses to see for yourself which one will look perfect on you. Be the beautiful and confident bride you want to be when you wear that perfect dress on your big day.
